Backstreet Bistro in Ouray

Great find! We were passing through Ouray and decided to stop in for lunch. We were greeted by the owner who had an obvious passion for running the Bistro. Food came out in generous portions, was absolutely delicious, and prices were very reasonable. Couldn't ask for more out of a lunch!

Great spot for breakfast. Food was good. Came quickly.

Excellent sandwich. Had an Italian sub and it was about as close to a Jersey Italian hoagie that I have found anywhere. Friendly employees.

Great food and the best service! Keith was knowledgeable, polite and thorough with EVERY customer that walked in the door. Rob is an awesome guy who was so kind to our 4-year old son; you can tell that he loves kids and the restaurant is family friendly. The Bistro itself is clean and modern and the only negative reviews were left by people who never even got to eat there... if you stay in Ouray, don't miss this place!

The food was great! We were there for breakfast and made it just in time before the grill closed. I would give a higher rating but it seemed there was an issue between the managment and staff. Not sure what was going on there, so not my place to pick a side, but I can say its never professional or appropriate to complain about your bosses to the customers. They were more focused on that than clearing and cleaning the table we had been waiting for for 20 minutes. Then for the rest of the meal no one ever came by. But this may not be the norm and we just happened to visit on a bad day. Again the food was fantastic, and that alone carries them to 4 stars.

Waited over 40 mins to get served our food. Everyone who was behind us in line where served first. The biscuit in the biscuits and gravy was hard as a rock.

This is a nice coffee and lunch place. The prices were reasonable and the sandwiches very tasty and satisfying. Staff was friendly and the establishment clean.

My only complaint here is the place is too small for the amount of people wanting to eat here. Not much room for seating or fixing the food. Otherwise, nice place to eat.

Love their hazelnut latte. April is always super helpful and nice behind the counter.

Everything was amazing and everyone was so nice. I'd drive another 1000 miles just to sit outside, eat a wonderful breakfast and enjoy the view.

Absolutely delicious. We had the spiced waffle special and the Black Bean breakfast burrito and both were absolutely incredible. Cute atmosphere, friendly and speedy service.

These guys are great. The bagels are tasty. The service is top notch. Drip Coffee is fresh, self serving and endless. The owners are super friendly and deserve your business for that reason alone. Good food and drink is just icing on the cake

Sandwiches were tasty and HUGE. The half sandwich is more than enough for an average sized adult.

Didnt expect much in the small town of Ouray, CO. But the backstreet bistro was spot on. The food was fresh even the fruit was good, the coffee was regular or gourmet, and delicious. The staff was friendly and quick. Would recommend to anyone who visits Ouray, top notch.

The french toast was perfect, this place is great. They were busy, but turning over tables consistently.

Excellent and expeditious food, friendly service, and good coffee. We ate at Roast and Toast a few days ago and this was vastly superior. Highly recommend!

Great breakfast food and pastry options. Plenty of coffee choices, though drip coffee was a bit more bitter than I'd like. Try to avoid busy times since seating is limited

Great veggie scramble with the Twin Falls breakfast! Good, self- serve coffee. Can get lunch to go if you're hitting the trails.

Food was good. I had the engineer omlette and a bagel. The omlet was ok, the bagel would have been better toasted. The staff was friendly. The coffee was good.

The cafe is housed in a small building away from Main street. What they lack in space they make up for in quality and quantity of food. Staff was pleasant, and they had the best Bloody Mary I've had in a long time!

food and service was amazing! Then management went above and beyond when they sent my glasses that I had left back to me in Indiana. I highly recommend this bistro!

We waited almost 40 minutes between waiting to order and waiting for our order, which came out cooked in a microwave. Absolutely terrible food, bad wait times, and flies buzzing around bothering you. And the waiters weren’t friendly. I wish I could give it negative stars.

A great little place to have breakfast. We had an AMAZING yogurt parfait and Huevos rancheros. Both were great. Coffee was great!! Staff was very friendly.

Food is Really Good. Coffee is average. Service is friendly. Only complaint is tight eating area. Very Tight. But Clean:)

Worst place ever! I went there for lunch and by the time they were done had to go right back to work because they took so long to make a sandwich and salad. Also they accidentally put horse radish on the bread for someone else's sandwich and then scraped it off and made my sandwich with it! I asked for extra ranch with my salad when I ordered and the girl who rung it up didn't charge me for it so when I asked for the girl who was making it to give me more and she proceeded togive mean attitude about it so I asked for the manager and go figure the rude one was the manager! I willnever go back!

Love the food, love the people and place is fantastic. It's small but the food is some of the best in town. The people who work there are great they know about the food and looks like the love working there. Rob is the owner and he is a great guy good owner and we love him and this place tons!!

The food here was fine but the service was disappointing. After standing for a over 7 minutes in a restaurant that had only 2 customers inside, we were told by a woman behind the counter to just sit down. When we asked if we can order, she told us she was too busy and to wait. Eventually we ordered thanks to a very nice younger woman who called us up. The original woman brought us our food and put it in the middle of the table saying "this is for someone...." then mumbling and walking away.

Absolutely fantastic food in a beautiful place, my sister and I shared a Caprice omelette and had plenty for both of us. The tomato and pesto especially tasted very fresh, and everyone in our party was happy with their meals. I highly recommend this to everyone going though Ouray!

Small place. Line can be long but it moves quickly. My potatoes were salty but the rest of the meal was really good. Smoothies were really good as well.

Overslept and missed the raved breakfast, but went in for coffee at least . Coffee wasnt bad, however, customer service was ehhh. Wasn't impressed with at least the gal who helped us. Couldn't tell if she wasn't that friendly, it was a long am already, or what .

Best breakfast we had in Ouray. Good coffee and smoothies. The food took almost an hour and they never brought our juice or told us to get them ourselves. An efficient kitchen and good communication from the staff could make this place cf E much better

Man this place is delicious! I had a simple bacon egg and cheese bagel and it was so good as was the coffee.

The food was nice quality and they were easy to accommodate vegan requests. But honestly - they REALLY need to do table service. You order at the counter, then get your coffee (which at that point is sort of in front of the next guy in line), then figure out where to get silverware - which is behind an odd blocking bar seating area, then find a table. Then a server comes out and yells your name and you meet them half way from the kitchen and pickup your food. All while dodging other guests who are having the same issues. A quick rework of the layout would solve some of these issues in about 1 minute flat. Last, the music was quite loud and demanding for a small space on top of conversation and the server yelling names every few minutes. One good server could handle the entire space and would make a much more enjoyable and complete experience. I would go again, but with different expectations - do a grab and go here!

Came here for breakfast after a long run. We had to stand outside for about 20 minutes. The food was worth the wait. We order the engineer pass omelet and chocolate chips short stack. Coffee was good tool. The place was really small. We order coffee to go in our own cups and it was pretty expensive.

Good food at a fair price. It's small so it's a little cramped. But it's a quaint atmosphere. We enjoyed it!

These poor small town businesses always have issues with staffing, but I got to say that Backyard Bistro has a great staff. Some great options for food as well.

Honestly, my expectations were fairly low, but this place was delicious. Cheap breakfast and delicious pastries. The soda machine was broken, which was a bummer, but the coffee was exceptional. Lady working the counter was sweet and the bathroom was very clean. Will come back next time we’re in Ouray.
